It has been an eventful year for the East Dallas food scene.
We said hello to eateries from first-time restaurateurs, industry veterans and local and national chains alike. We said goodbye to many places, too — more on that later.

A raw bar, fresh-caught seafood, brunch and cocktails are among the offerings at this restaurant by Milkshake Concepts, which opened in the old Café Express.

With nearly 70 locations in cities across the U.S., including one in Deep Ellum, Jeni’s Ice Creams made Lowest Greenville home.

This local dessert shop closed after a fire in March, and after keeping hungry customers updated throughout a long construction process, owners Sean and Erin Jett began serving us again months later.

Local chef and neighbor Keith Cedotal started a delivery-only bakery, serving East Dallas and parts of Lake Highlands.

Husband-wife duo Ismael Trejo and Maria Becerra celebrated a grand opening of their Casa View bakery with hundreds of people in attendance.

Jacob Cox and Danny Wilson bought the restaurant in 2022 and moved it from Lemmon Avenue to Timber Creek shopping center.

While many Zoës Kitchen restaurants were converted into Cava, a new one in Casa Linda is a Cava original.

This restaurant with a location in Preston Center expanded to the former Digg’s Tacos.

The Mockingbird Commons store was the first Dallas location for the chain.

Owner Gustavo De Los Rios chose the Samuell-Grand intersection for the second Mami Coco, which has more indoor seating than the original on Bryan Street.

Jose Luis Rodriguez opened his first brick-and-mortar restaurant, serving fusion cuisine, in the old La Acapulqueña.
