That’s according to Mashed, which recently published a list of the best restaurants visited by the Mayor of Flavortown on his show, Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives.

The series has been running for more than 30 seasons.

One restaurant is named for each state, and for Texas, it’s Dallas’ own Pecan Lodge.

Here’s what Mashed had to say about the barbecue joint:

“You know what they say about Texas. The barbecue is definitely better, and Pecan Lodge in Dallas has some of the best. The signature dish is beef brisket, of course, and Pecan Lodge smokes their for up to 18 hours and serves it with house-made barbecue sauce. This Texas joint is also serving up ribs, pulled pork and something called the ‘The Hot Mess,’ a sweet potato smothered with brisket, chipotle cream cheese and butter.”

Pecan Lodge thanked Guy Fieri in a tweet, which included a link to NBC5’s story on the list.

This isn’t the first time Pecan Lodge has been recognized. Texas Monthly called it one of the best 50 barbecue joints in our state in 2017. Two years later, in 2019, Pecan Lodge made Trip Advisor’s list of the best 50 restaurants in Dallas.

The restaurant was started by Justin and Diane Fourton in 2010, and back then, it was at the Dallas Farmers Market. They needed more space and moved to Main Street in Deep Ellum.
