In November, The Advocate reported that Oncor was beginning the months-long project to trim back the trees that had grown “dangerously close” to power lines. A comprehensive trim was last conducted in the East Zacha, Lawther and transmission line areas in 2015.

Work was temporarily paused in December because of high winds and to give arborists more time to respond to customers’ questions.

Oncor just provided another update, saying the completion date has been extended because of delays that happened over the holidays.

“The delays were in part due to more customers inquiring about specific trimming on their property,” Andrea Sanders, Oncor’s director of Dallas Customer Service, said in an email. “In keeping with our commitment to approach each property with the utmost sensitivity, the crews stop all trimming while the arborists work to resolve any concerns the customer may have.”

This week, Jan. 24-28, crews will be continuing work on the Lawther feeder and East Zacha feeder areas.

In the East Zacha area, work is happening on the following streets: Waterford Drive, Tralee Drive, Erin Drive, Country Cork Drive, Sylvania Drive, Gateway Lane, Lake Gardens Drive, Vinemont Street, E. Lawther Drive, E. Lake Highlands Drive, Tiffany Way, Riverton Road, Peninsula Drive and Biscayne Boulevard.

In the Lawther area, work is happening on the following streets: Williamson Road, W. Bay Circle, Carrousel Circle, Bob O Link Drive, Lyre Lane, Santa Barbara Drive and Charade Drive.

Oncor also said neighbors may notice crews applying herbicide in some areas. For example, it could be applied to cut stumps after a tree removal to control re-sprouting and individual plant treatments to control smaller, incompatible woody vegetation.
