We have an update on that vegetation management project underway around White Rock Lake.

Oncor is conducting the tree-trimming work to ensure safety and reliable electric service. We wrote more about the project in November.

Trees that have grown too close to power lines are a hazard because they can threaten service reliability and neighbors’ safety. The utilities provider works with Wright Tree Service to selectively remove tree limbs and branches that are within 10 feet of service lines.

This work is separate from the winter maintenance, which includes tree removal, pruning and trimming. Read more about that here.

According to an email from the office of District 9 City Council member Paula Blackmon, some work on the project has been delayed because of recent high winds. Also, crews paused work to allow arborists to respond to customer questions.

Next week, crews will be working on the following streets:

  • Erin Drive
  • Tipperay Drive
  • Country Cork Drive
  • Bridget Drive
  • Sylvania Drive
  • Gateway Lane
  • S. Rustic Circle
  • Lake Gardens Drive
  • Vinemont Street
  • W. Lake Highlands Drive
  • E. Lake Highlands Drive
  • Harter Road
  • Riverton Road
  • Peninsula Drive
  • Biscayne Boulevard
  • Tarleton Street
  • Hobart Street
  • Northcliff Drive
  • Waterview Road
  • E. Lawther Drive

In addition, they’ll continue work on Peavy Road, N. Buckner Boulevard. Tranquilla Drive, Kilamey Drive, Tralee Drive, Donegal Drive and Fuller Drive.

Because of the holidays, crews will be working Dec. 20-23 and return Dec. 27.

Questions about the trimming should be directed to Oncor. You can email them at or call them at 1-888-313-6862.
