A local hospital is changing its name and expanding services in a rebrand under the same ownership.

City Hospital at White Rock is now White Rock Medical Center. The name change was done because market research showed that the old name was “confusing and not well understood in the community,” according to a news release.

“The new name — White Rock Medical Center — is a direct tie to the lake that distinguishes this hospital geographically,” Matthew Roberts, the CEO, said in the news release. “The term ‘medical center’ is a reflection of the high quality of the clinical services we provide.”

The medical center is under the same ownership, Pipeline Health.

Over the past year, White Rock Medical Center has expanded its clinical programs, hired more physicians, renovated inpatient rooms and facilities and upgraded medical technology.

In addition to the name change, the medical center released a new logo. It maintains the same blue and green colors, but with two triangular shapes reflecting light as a symbol of hope. The graphics also look like sailboats, a nod to its White Rock Lake location.

“New name, expanded services, bright future” is the medical center’s new tagline.

This location has had several names over the years. Before City Hospital at White Rock, it was called Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – White Rock. It became that in 2016, after being called Doctors Hospital at White Rock Lake.

White Rock Medical Center is located at 9440 Poppy Drive.
