There’s a black outline around what we expect to be the clock at Lakewood Shopping Center.

About a month ago, we reported that there was an outline of a clock at the corner suite, where Dixie House, Sugarbacon Proper Kitchen and Kozy Kitchen used to be. We asked the shopping center’s owner for an update on the clock, and we are waiting for a response.

The clock was taken down late last year as part of construction at 6400 Gaston Ave. to make way for a new tenant, Sweetgreen. It was the third time in the past 10 years that the clock was removed, the other instances being in 2013 and 2016.

Local restoration expert Ron Siebler had some doubts, but he acknowledged it was possible the clock could be reinstalled after construction.

It looks like the clock will be up again soon, but it does seem to be hanging lower than before. Compare it with this photo taken when the clock was being removed in 2021.

That’s what we know for now, but we’ll keep posting updates as we learn more.
