A new optometry clinic, Modern Spectacle Eyecare, is open near the Lakewood Shopping Center at 6336 Gaston Ave. between Sa Sa Sushi and WAYA Japanese Izakaya. The visionary care facility specializes in eye health services and eyewear retail.
Modern Spectacle opened Thursday, April 25 at 8:30 a.m., and it was a busy first day with appointments, patient calls, scheduling and working out the kinks along the way Dr. Stephanie LeSage said.
Leading up to their opening date has been a “whirlwind,” she said. “It’s almost like going into labor or having a kid [because] you’re like, ‘I think I’m ready’ and it’s right at the beginning. But as the day comes closer you’re like, ‘I’m not ready but it’s gonna happen,'” she added.
Dr. LeSage said when choosing the location for her private practice she loved the Lakewood community and wanted to be a part of its growing neighborhood.
“I want to be the go-to eye doctor for all the families we have in Lakewood,” she said.
Modern Spectacle Eyecare offers comprehensive services for optimal vision health. This includes eye exams, annual check-ups, diabetic eye exams and medical assessments for conditions like cataracts and glaucoma. Additional care for red eyes, contact lens fittings, pediatric eye exams and myopia control services will be available.
After many years of working for clinics as an optometrist, Dr. LeSage said she’s excited to own a private practice that provides eye care services in the local community.
