Hawkers Asian Street Food is soon opening its Deep Ellum location.
The Florida-based restaurant will be located in a 4,200-square-foot space in our neighborhood.
Hawkers’ name comes from the street food vendors in Southeast Asia who yell at people walking by to “hawk” their small plates. The restaurant’s founders have traveled to the region many times.
The Deep Ellum location will offer the same dishes served at other spots: roti canai, pad Thai and curry laksa ramen, for example. But there are some unique elements for the Dallas store.
Hawkers asked local muralist Hatziel Flores to paint a 1,782-square-foot mural on the exterior of the building, and there’s also a large indoor poster wall installation, neon lights, an Asian-inspired umbrella ceiling and a colorful patio.
Hawkers is set to open Nov. 3 at 2800 Main St.
