In District 9, Blackmon took on challenger Ernest Banda as well as write-in candidates, and she won over her district with 3,094 votes (77.88%). Banda garnered 853 votes (21.47%), and the write-in candidates took home 26 votes collectively.

If you’re unfamiliar with which district you’re in, the answer is not so simple as the district lines are somewhat difficult to describe. District 2 includes Deep Ellum and parts of East Dallas along I-30 before jutting out to the northeast, but it also stretches to US-75, covering some space between Haskell, Bennett and Henderson Avenues.

Because of District 2’s shape, District 14 is split in East Dallas. A section from US 75 to Haskell Avenue, north of Gaston Avenue, is included, and then it picks up again east of Bennett and Henderson Avenues, south of Mockingbird Lane, west of Abrams Road as well as a small section south of Gaston Avenue.

District 9 stretches from US-75 to I-635 with some parts jutting up past Northwest Highway. In the east, the district extends to Gus Thomasson Road and slides further south, encompassing the Forest Hills neighborhood. Areas north of Gaston Avenue and La Vista Drive are included, as well as east of Abrams Road.
