East Dallas schools received mostly Bs and Cs, according to the state’s ratings that were released last week.
Keep in mind that the grades given are for the 2022-23 school year. The release of these scores has been delayed for five years as a lawsuit played out between several school districts and the Texas Education Agency over changes to the rating standards, according to a Texas Tribune article. The courts favored TEA, resulting in the release of the grades, but the 2023-24 scores are still being held back from the public because of another lawsuit.
Performance on the state’s standardized test makes a significant impact on the grades for school districts and campuses, but readiness for career, college or military is also a factor. The scores are supposed to represent student achievement, progress and closing the gaps between disadvantaged and non-disadvantaged student groups.
Dallas ISD received a C from the state, as did several of its campuses in East Dallas, but only a few on this list earned a D, and none got an F. B was the most common grade, and there were a handful of As as well.
