Dallas Children’s Theater is hosting Cry Havoc Theater Company’s final production.
The play, Endlings, challenges people to think about the world they are leaving behind to younger generations, considering topics such as climate change, social justice and art. It was originally developed during the COVID-19 pandemic as an audio-play, and it has since been updated an adapted for in-person performances.
Cry Havoc, which offices at Common Desk in Deep Ellum, was founded in Dallas in 2014 by Mara Richards Bim, who wrote and is directing the upcoming play. The company, which is closing in March, is known for its work with teens.
In a letter announcing the sunsetting of the theater company, Bim wrote that she and her husband are moving out of state this spring to be closer to family.
“After many months of conversation, financial modeling and consideration, Cry Havoc’s Board and I agree that as I embrace this new season in my own life, the time is right to bring Cry Havoc to a natural close and one that allows the organization to go out on a high note,” she wrote.
