For the Love of Kettle ad on Instagram by Kettle Art Gallery

If you’ve waited the whole year through for an opportunity to purchase unique works by local artists for cheap, the time is now, or, it’s Saturday, to be precise, at 7 p.m. It’s the annual For the Love of Kettle art show at Deep Ellum’s Kettle Art, Frank Campagna‘s lynchpin of the neighborhood’s modern era.

And it’s a good idea to arrive before the doors open, because, at $50 for every 9-by-12 piece, the art flies off the shelves or walls.

This one-night-only fundraiser for the gallery features 150 works by artists including Campagna, Natalia Rodriguez, David Mann, Judson Rogers, Susan Clark, Manny Garza, Danny Hurley and dozens more listed here.

The annual event involves artists who support and exhibit at Kettle, and it funds eclectic, North Texas based, cultural programming the rest of the year, organizers say.

There are no previews or pre sales for this show, so they suggest arriving early and grabbing a spot in line.

Since its 2005 opening, the Kettle has remained true to its mission to nurture emerging and mid-career visual artists from North Texas. Over the years, the gallery has received numerous awards and designations including: USA Today’s 10 Best Art Galleries in Dallas.

Campagna opened the Kettle Art Gallery in 2005 to help revive a dead neighborhood that had been a music, art and cultural Mecca in the ’90s, according to an old Advocate article.

Opening the Kettle was important to him, he said then, because he wanted “to let artists know that there’s a place for them,” especially the up-and-comers. “They’re not lost dogs,” he says. “They can find friends and fellowship here.”
