Woodrow Wilson High School moved up more than 200 places on the Newsweek list of the nation’s best public high schools. The magazine ranked Woodrow 422 this year, up from 652 in 2009.

Woodrow is one of about 1,600 schools in the nation that made the list, and one of nine Dallas high schools ranked. The No. 1 school on the list, for the second consecutive year, is the Talented and Gifted Magnet at the Yvonne A. Ewell Townview Center. The Science and Engineering Magnet moved to No. 4 on the list, down from 2 last year.

Woodrow and W.T. White, which dropped to 298 this year from 178 in 2009, are the only non magnet DISD schools on the list.
