The Wilkinson Center collected 1,813 pairs of new shoes during its 23rd annual shoe drive this week. Each pair, along with two pairs of socks, was donated to a school child in Dallas.
On Friday, the center is hosting a back-to-school rally at Ferguson Road Park to distribute donated school supplies. The carnival-like event will feature children’s activities, health screenings and registration drive for adults who are interested in signing up for GED, ESL and other classes the center offers. Anyone wishing to donate school supplies can bring them to the center’s locations on Bryan and Buckner.
