The coffee shop already has a drive-thru at Hillside Village shopping center at Mockingbird and Abrams. Now, the company is moving into a spot on La Vista Drive at Gaston Avenue, where Starbucks recently closed. (Starbucks will open a new location next to Sweetgreen at Lakewood Shopping Center in August.)

White Rock Coffee hopes to open its newest store in late fall, co-owner Nancy Baker said.

“We would love to open ASAP; however, there is a lot of work to do to make it the space the customers deserve and a space that looks like White Rock Coffee,” Nancy said.

The first White Rock Coffee was opened by Nancy and Robert Baker on East Northwest Highway near Ferndale in 2005. Since then, the company has added stores at Preston-Royal, Preston Center, Snider Plaza and Rosewood Court in Uptown, in addition to its drive-thru in East Dallas.

White Rock Coffee also has a “Brew Lab” next to the original coffee shop on Northwest Highway, where the company offers classes for coffee enthusiasts and industry professionals.

Iced, hot and blended coffee drinks made with freshly roasted beans are staples on the menu, though the shop also sells teas, refreshers, smoothies and drinks such as hot chocolate. Flavored lemonades are available over the summer.

Pastries are made from scratch at White Rock Coffee’s commercial kitchen.

More coffee shops are expected to open in East Dallas this year. Black Sheep Coffee, which was founded in the United Kingdom, is coming to the former BBVA bank building between Burger House and Big Shucks on East Mockingbird Lane. Remote Coffee is taking the old TC Shaved Ice on Garland Road.
