Update: The deceased man has been identified as Brian Francis Holscher, 59.
Firefighters found a body while extinguishing a fire at the Tampico Motel near White Rock Creek this weekend.
At 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dallas Fire-Rescue responded to a 911 call for a structure fire at the Tampico Motel, located at 7201 E. Grand.
They arrived at the 2-story motel to find smoke and fire coming from a second-floor unit. They went inside and put the fire out quickly, according to a press release, but during the process they found “the body of an unresponsive, unidentified man inside.”
Firefighters pulled him from the unit and, with paramedics, began life-saving measures, including CPR. Then the patient was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The cause of the fire is undetermined, but it’s under investigation by Dallas Fire-Rescue. The victim’s cause of death is being investigated by the Dallas County Medical Examiner.
