Larry Wayne Stinnett
An Old East Dallas man with a history of crimes against children will be spending the next 160 months in prison after pleading guilty to possession of child pornography. On March 16, Chief U.S. District Judge Jorge A. Solis sentenced Larry Wayne Stinnett, 63, who admitted “I have a problem with children” when he was arrested for his most recent crime.
Stinnett has been on the state’s sexual offender website since 2001, when he was required to register for life following a 1998 sexual indecency charge involving a 14-year-old girl.
His most recent arrest stemmed from a 2014 Texas Crime Stoppers tip that Stinnett had child pornography on his computer and that he maintained a Facebook page that included a profile picture of a young girl. Dallas police investigated the Facebook page and saw pictures of Stinnett’s apartment along with dozens of young girls on his friends list. Because sexual offenders are required to disclose all of their online identities, police were able to arrest Stinnett on a probation violation at his San Jacinto Street apartment last year.
A search of his home and various electronic devices revealed more than 200 pornographic images of girls as young as 10 years old. He admitted that he has been collecting child pornography for six to seven years, and plead guilty to a single possession charge last September.
