Born Strong Martial Arts has been named a finalist in the Newcomer Nonprofit category of the 2026 D CEO Nonprofit and Corporate Citizenship Awards.
The nonprofit was among 136 finalists selected from more than 900 nominations. Winners will be announced July 23 at Gilley’s Dallas.
Born Strong Martial Arts serves youth and families throughout Dallas through partnerships with Dallas Park and Recreation, local schools, community organizations and Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas. Through martial arts and self-defense education, students learn more than physical techniques, developing skills such as respect, leadership and perseverance. Programming is currently being hosted at the Samuell Grand Recreation Center, Exall Recreation Center and Lake Highlands North Recreation Center, according to the online schedule.
“This recognition belongs to every student who has stepped onto the mat, every parent who believed in our mission, every volunteer who gave their time, and every supporter who helped us remove barriers for families,” said Mikey Jaramillo, director of development and co-founder of Born Strong Martial Arts.
Since its founding, the organization has served more than 1,500 individuals. More than 40% of enrolled students currently receive full or partial financial assistance through its Access for All initiative. Born Strong Martial Arts is part of the Born Strong Foundation, a Dallas-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
