You may already have read it, but this morning I’m enjoying a laugh-out-loud column by the Observer’s Jim Schutze about a recent hearing with the Dallas Homeowners League concerning whether the Belmont Neighborhood Association should be allowed into the league. Belmont’s most infamous spokesperson is Avi Adelman, and if you know anything about Avi (most people do; it’s hard to live in this neighborhood without being confronted by Avi in some way) and/or the struggle between his neighborhood association and the Lower Greenville Neighborhood Association (the 2006 National Night Out was one of my favorites), then you’ll get a kick out of Schutze’s writing. Highlights are references to Greenville Avenue as the "Tattoo Curtain," the section between Belmont and Ross as the "East Bank of East Dallas," and the Camp Fire Girls Building on Skillman where the hearing was held as the "Reichstag".

Not to ruin the ending for you, but the league rejected Belmont’s membership application, and Schutze says its reasons for doing so are laughable. (The ensuing comments on his post, while long, are worth at least a skim if you have time.)
