A new group of public school parents meets monthly at the North Dallas Chamber of Commerce at Preston/Royal to hear from and ask questions of DISD execs. This month, Denise Collier is the speaker; she’s in charge of pretty-much everything academic at DISD. The great thing about this group, Public School People, is that there are no membership fees, no meetings (other than the monthly meeting to hear from DISD execs), no officers and no obligations. You just show up when you can to learn about what’s going on at DISD (Supt. Hinojosa was the first guest, and the head of human resources attended last month’s meeting). The meeting is from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.; you can bring a lunch, if you want. The chamber office is 10707 Preston Road, in the southwest corner behind the bank.
