It will move into the space that once housed Burger King at Mockingbird Central Plaza, near East Mockingbird Lane and McMillan Avenue. Most recently, the space housed BurgerFi, which opened in 2018.

According to The Cookshack’s website, the East Dallas location will open sometime this year, but the company did not immediately respond to a request for a more specific opening date.

The Cookshack already has locations in Fort Worth, Houston, Webster, College Station, McAllen, Spring, Katy and San Antonio.

Named one of the top 100 places to eat in Texas by Yelp in 2021, The Cookshack offers fried chicken in different forms: as tenders, on a sandwich or salad, in a taco or with waffles. Customers get to choose a spice level, ranging from Not Hot to Adios My Friend.

The other protein option served at the restaurant is ribs.

For sides, The Cookshack has options such as fries, sweet potato fries, macaroni and cheese, and cole slaw.

The Cookshack will be located at 5456 E. Mockingbird Lane.
