Alex Winslow’s new neighbors weren’t excited to hear about the request he recently submitted to the City Plan commission to rezone the residential property at the northeast corner of Richmond and Abrams into a commercial one.

“Everyone I’ve talked to, so far, is 100 percent against it,” says Belinda Cardwell, the neighbor in 6406 Lakewood, across the alleyway from Winslow’s new property.

The property sits at the edge of a conservation district, which the City Plan commission is hesitant to disturb. The nearby neighbors talked extensively about the importance of preserving the conservation district during a meeting Tuesday night. They also discussed the impact such a change would have on the value of their properties,  plus other concerns.
