As the Cinco de Mayo celebration nears this Sunday, here are five places to visit in our neighborhood for cocktails, history, art, culture and music.

Punch Bowl Social

The Deep Ellum entertainment venue, Punch Bowl Social, will have celebratory drink specials and complimentary chips and salsa for Cinco de Mayo. Guests can dance to Latin music, indulge in $9 Patrόn Silver Margaritas and have a chance to win a prize hidden inside a mini piñata. Guests can also take home souvenir Patrόn bottle glasses while supplies last.

Yellow Rosa Cocktaileria 

A hidden cocktaileria and dance club, Yellow Rosa, is inviting guests for a Cinco de Mayo fiesta. To kickstart the celebration, a brunch accompanied by live mariachi music from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Later, $5 paleta shots will be served along with DJ Juice playing music from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Cinco de Mayo de Musica

Residents and visitors can watch Cinco de Mayo Fiesta de Musica at the Glen Lawn in the Village. Guests can enjoy tacos, margaritas and live music from two tribute bands: Grupo La Flor, a tribute band to Selena Quintanilla and Voz Descalza, a Shakira tribute group. Regular ticket prices for non-residents and villagers are $25. $100 VIP tickets include private seating and access to a VIP bar.

Truck Yard- Cinco de Mayo

The outdoor bar and food truck stop, Truck Yard, will host their annual Cinco de Mayo celebration featuring little dog races, Tex-Mex food trucks, festive drinks, live music and prize-filled pinatas for adults and kids to play. Food offerings include tacos and burritos, quesadillas and nachos. All drinks come with a free Luchador Mask while supplies last.

Dallas Cinco de Mayo parade

The Dallas Cinco de Mayo parade, (although not held in East Dallas) will take place in Oak Cliff, the Big Parade is a mile long and will go through Jefferson Boulevard. Fiestas will take place that evening with over 200 storefronts and anchor stores offering Hispanic products, services, art centers and theaters, held in a large parking lot.
