This Saturday, find out why the folks at Dallas Wine Trail say Dallas wines are some of the best in the U.S. during the Dallas Wine Trail Spring Grand Tasting from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. For one ticket, you’ll get three tastes plus free food pairings at each of the four Dallas wineries. Plus, you’ll also get one bottle of wine and a souvenir wine glass. Check out the website for more. Tickets are $49.95 and non-refundable.

There’s the Tour Dallas Bike Ride on Saturday, starting bright and early in the morning. It’s not a race, so no need to stress over who is in the lead. Just grab some friends and get to peddling. You can cycle routes of 8, 20 or 30 miles around Dallas to benefit the Promise House. Registration at 6:30 a.m. and the tour begins at 8 a.m. Meet at Dallas City Hall at 1500 Marilla. It’s $40 at the event, $20 for children 12 and younger.

JohnGielgudFriday and Saturday, starting at 8 p.m. Shakespeare Dallas is hosting, “Ages of Shakespeare: After Gielgud,” at the Bath House Cultural Center. They will explore the how, through the different periods of time,actors have performed and interpreted Shakespeare. It’s free to Shakespeare Dallas members and only $5 for non-members. Tickets can be purchased at the door.

Also on Saturday, Stonewall Jackson Elementary is hosting the Food Truck Field Day from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. For $5 you can “roll up and chow down” at 5828 E. Mockingbird.

On Saturday night, “American Idol” contestant Jason Castro is playing at the Lakewood Theater for the Fostering Hope Benefit Concert from 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. All proceeds will benefit the Dallas Home for Foster Children, so the $25 tickets are tax deductible. Dallas Blooms is on its final stretch. This is the last official weekend for tulip season at the Dallas Arboretum. Entry tickets range from $9 to $20. Check out the website, or call 214.515.6500 for more.

'Rumpelstiltskin' at Studio TheaterAlso in its final stages, Dallas Children’s Theater is wrapping up its production of ‘Rumpelstiltskin’ on Sunday. If you haven’t had a chance to see the Brothers Grimm show come to life with the puppetry of Kathy Burks & Co., this is your last chance. Happening today, April 4, at Garden Cafe at 5 p.m., is a panel discussion about the importance of local and alternative food sources. They will feature several impressive speakers and afterwards there will be a Q&A followed by a Meet and Greet. RSVP here.

And while you’re in the mood for gardening, Walton’s Garden Center is also hosting a session on Saturday, April 6, at 10 a.m. to discuss the basics of organic gardening.
