Last June we ran a story about White Rock area residents who founded the Lone Star Bike Ride as a way to increase awareness and fund AIDS research and treatment.

In the interest of extending its charitable contributions and sparking excitement about the summer ride, Lone Star Ride this Friday, April 16, is hosting a fundraising fashion show “Passion4Fashion” — because we know from seeing them on the trails in all their spandexed-florescent glory that cyclists appreciate fashion (Hey, I kid. They made that joke in their press release so don’t get mad at me!).

Ticket options include $75 VIP with seating along the catwalk, $35 general admission and standing room only for $20. VIP ticket holders will enjoy a pre-show reception with bar service featuring Belvedere Martinis, hors d’oeuvres and a fashion showcase from 7 p.m. until the models hit the runway at 8:30 p.m.

The show is at the Rose Room at S4, 3911 Cedar Springs, and proceeds from the fashion show will benefit the Loan Star Locker program of the LSRFA, which provides loaner bicycles to riders without bikes of their own. Tickets are available online at lonestarride.org.
