Texas gulf oysters are in season, and Fish City Grill is celebrating with "Oyster Fest", which starts this week and culminates with an oyster-eating contest April 24 at 3 p.m.

The Texas oyster harvest this year isn’t as big as usual, but the oysters are bigger and better than usual, according to this story from the Daily News in Galveston.

The restaurant on Henderson is selling $5 raffle tickets as part of the festival with prizes including tickets and parking passes to a Texas Rangers game, golf packages and gift baskets. All proceeds from the raffle and oyster-eating contest benefit the White Rock Lake Foundation.

Fish City Grill has a menu of oyster specials, including raw oysters, oysters rockafeller and Thai chili oysters.
