Junius Heights hosts the annual Spring Fling Block party on Saturday, April 27, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., featuring a chili cook-off and dessert bake-off at Parkmont Street.

Attendees can check in at the entry table at Parkmont and Junius. Entry is free to current Junius Heights Historic District members and $35 to non-member households. The entry fee includes an annual membership to the JHHD.

Chili cook-off rules:

Turn in your crockpot of chili with your name at the bottom of the pot to Parkmont Street by 1:30 p.m.

Tables with extension cords and power strips will be provided to keep chili hot.

Judging will begin at 1:30 p.m., and attendees can enjoy chili dishes at 2 p.m.

Dessert bake-off rules:

Turn in your baked goods to Parkmont Street by 1:30 p.m. 

Bring enough desserts with a taped name to the bottom of the plate for judges to try and share with neighborhood attendees.

Judging will begin at 2 p.m., and attendees can enjoy sweet treats at 2:30 p.m.

Best-in-show winners of the chili cook-off and dessert bake-off will each receive a trophy. They will be asked to return their trophies next year where they will be passed to next year’s winners (or they can compete to win the title for another year).
