After Unleavened Fresh Kitchen left the Lakewood Shopping Center in December 2022, the spot remained vacant for two years. Today, a new tenant, Due’ Cucina, an Italian Seattle-based restaurant, has begun construction to open at 1900 Abrams Pkwy.

Owners from Due’ Cucina told the Advocate they plan to open within the next couple of months.

The restaurant consists of four locations, all of which are located in Seattle. The Lakewood addition marks the first location to be out-of-state.

Formerly, Unleavened, the fast-casual restaurant with a focus on healthy food opened in 2015 at Lakewood Shopping Center. The restaurant served all-day breakfast, wraps, soups, salads, bowls and smoothies.

It appears the new establishment will stick to fast-casual dining with upscale handmade pasta dishes, appetizers, porchetta and desserts.

“We want everybody to experience the way we eat pasta and Italian food at home: fresh and diverse yet simple food, prepared from scratch every day, with an affordable price tag,” the company website states.

On Thursday, workers began plastering their restaurant sign to the doors and working on construction inside.
