The Dallas chapter of the American Institute of Architects awarded two East Dallas builds with its Built
Design Honor Awards, the organization’s highest recognition of excellent work.
The Casa Linder on Vanderbilt Avenue was inspired by the owner’s love for the historic prairie homestead. Built by Buchanan Architecture with reclaimed materials, the 3,700-square-foot home is a series of individual buildings linked together by a continuous hallway. Outdoor patios are integrated throughout and create usable outdoor spaces lit by natural light.

The Charlotte and Donald Test Pavilion at the Dallas Arboretum overlooks a 3.5-acre garden filled with fruits, vegetables, herbs and flowers. A demonstration kitchen in the pavilion serves as a site for cooking classes, demonstrations and educational programs.
The 3,700-square-foot building is made of a limestone box inside a glass enclosure that allows a clear view of the garden. The pavilion features wooden rolling doors and a wood ceiling that extends diagonally outward from the top of the stone box.
