This whole in the ground will soon be for more fried chicken on Garland.

As it is one of the busiest (and most dangerous) intersections in the neighborhood, it is difficult to miss the new construction at Garland-Gaston-Grand. The pawn shop and garage that sat at the northwest corner of the intersection have been razed, and a Raising Cane’s banner heralds another fried chicken eatery on Garland Road.

Cane’s will compete with the newly opened Chik-fil-A farther up Garland Road. There is also a Kentucky Fried Chicken on the same road, and for the more discerning palette, Lounge Here has a fried chicken confit.

Cane’s seems to be developing a 3-4 mile radius for the recent expansion into East Dallas. The Garland location is about three miles from the recently opened location on Ross Avenue, which is about three miles from their older location at Lovers and Greenville. That location is a little over 4 miles from the Cane’s at Forest and 75.
