Alvarado said he panicked when he realized he had strangled her, and since they were at the lake, he dumped her in the water, the Dallas Morning News reported. He realized Lindsey, whom he met on a dating app, was transgender just before he killed her.

The 24-year-old said he drove Lindsey to White Rock Lake to have sex with her, but he realized something “wasn’t right.” He claimed Lindsey became aggressive when he confronted her, and out of fear, he decided to fight back. He managed to get on top of Lindsey, take off his belt and strangle her. When he realized Lindsey wasn’t moving, he started pulling her body out of the car and into the lake. As he was doing that, her head hit the concrete.

Prosecutors disputed a couple of Alvarado’s claims. First, he said before they went to the lake, they were at his apartment for only a few minutes. But prosecutors said phone records show the two were at the apartment for at least half an hour.

Also, Alvarado said the only thing he did for a few days after Lindsey died was go to work. But prosecutors said they had records that showed Alvarado started using dating apps two days later.
