Six students from Woodrow Wilson High School are competing in the UIL 5A State Swimming and Diving Championships.

The students who qualified are:

Campbell Chase: junior; 200 individual medley, 100 breaststroke

Jack Berube: senior; 200 medley relay, 200 freestyle, 100 backstroke, 400 freestyle relay

Landon Fike: freshman; 200 medley relay, 400 freestyle relay

Grant Closson: senior; 200 medley relay, 100 freestyle, 400 freestyle relay

Maxwell Freele: senior; 200 medley relay, 400 freestyle relay

Tyler Patterson: senior; 200 medley relay, 400 freestyle relay

The meet will be held Feb. 17-18 at the Lee & Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center at the University of Texas at Austin.

Several of these swimmers are returning to the competition following success last season.

Chase placed first at the state competition in the 200 individual medley in 2022 and 2021, during her sophomore and freshman years. Last year, she also placed second in the 100 freestyle.

Berube placed second in the 200 freestyle and in the 100 backstroke last year. Teammate Closson placed fourth in the 200 freestyle.
