DFPS says they have been in contact with relatives of the 6-year-old girl who was abandoned at Baylor Medical Center, according to NBC5. A court hearing has been scheduled for Dec. 14, which will decide whether or not the young girl will return to her family or be put into foster care.

On Monday, Dec. 3, the girl, who identified herself as Alejandra, was abandoned at Baylor Medical Center located at 3500 Gaston Avenue, according to the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services.

At the time, she was unable to provide information regarding her family or other information.

On Wednesday, Dec. 6, Texas DFPS shared a photo of the girl on social media seeking the public’s help in locating her family.

Alejandra has remained in CPS care since she was found at the hospital, DFPS said.

In an interview with WFAA, Elijah Ramos who claims to be the child’s older brother spoke out regarding his concerns for Alejandra’s well-being and safety.

“I was just spinning you know, you know, I was just trying to figure out what I can do for her at the moment,” Ramos said in the interview.

Family members of the young girl have been in contact with DFPS to see what opportunities are available for her to return home, according to WFAA reporting.
