Woodrow Wilson High School boys and girls soccer teams won their matches on Friday in the first round of the state playoffs. The two teams played back-to-back at Forester Stadium in Pleasant Grove.
The Woodrow ladies took care of Samuell High School 3-1, with two goals from sophomore Julie Castro and another from freshman Kylie Kranz. They will play tonight at the Gopher Bowl Stadium in Grand Prairie at 7 p.m. against Crowley High School.
The guys snuck past Hillcrest High School with an early goal from sophomore Ivan Zapien and stout defending, winning 1-0. They will play Waxahachie High School tonight at 7:30 p.m. at Wilmer-Hutchins Stadium.
After finishing ahead of Woodrow in district play, the Bryan Adams boys soccer team lost its playoff game to Samuell High School 2-1.
