The Woodrow Wilson High School football team is in “emergency mode,” according to an email announcement.
The team needs new, more protective helmets, which are better at preventing concussions, and the NFL has said it will match up to $5,000 on any funds that Woodrow raises for the purchase of new helmets.
By raising the max funds plus the League match, Woodrow can buy enough new helmets that every varsity player will receive one. And eventually, the better helmets will be passed to J.V., freshman, and Long as well.
All funds raised will be tax deductible through the Woodrow Wilson Athletic Booster Club. Make checks out to WW Athletic Boosters care of WWHS, 100 S. Glasgow, Dallas, 75214. All funds raised will go directly to the NFL Helmet Program.
Woodrow is on a limited time basis. Once the allotted NFL funds dry up, then it is done. Former Woodrow football player and Heisman Trophy winner Tim Brown has agreed to be Woodrow’s NFL player contact, but Woodrow must raise the necessary funds.
