GAPco. announced that it gave away over 60 slices of pizza and collected four extra large boxes of school supplies this year. The supplies go directly to the teachers at the Dallas ISD school, Ignacio Zaragoza Elementary.

In addition to supplies, Greenville Avenue Pizza Company collected monetary donations from customers to purchase supplies that teachers and students will need at the beginning of the second semester of school, according to a press release from GAPco.

Last year, $187 was collected. This year, the goal was to double that. Thanks to extremely generous donations of $150 from HG Sply Co., The Blind Butcher, and Nandina’s, as well as $100 collected from customers in attendance, GAPCo raised $550. In January, the money will be given to Zaragoza and GAPCo will match what was collected, for a total of $1,100.

Sammy Mandell, the owner of Greenville Avenue Pizza Company and his wife, Molly, a former teacher at Zaragoza, are both products of Dallas Independent School District. This event also tied in with the Lowest Greenville Collective’s “52 Weeks of Giving” initiative with other businesses in the neighborhood.
