It appears that a dance hall permit to allow Club Babalu to continue operating in the OK Sports Bar space between the YMCA and Far West has been withdrawn by the applicant.  The club was forced from its Uptown location on McKinney Avenue late last year, failing to get its permit renewed due to neighbors’ complaints about after-hours drinking, noise, loitering and the like.  Apparently due to similar concerns raised by our own area neighborhood associations about Babulu, the owners decided to pull the plug on its request.  So for the time being Babalu is not OK but OK is OK.
