A couple who was stranded on Monday night after being swept into White Rock Creek has been rescued, Dallas Fire-Rescue officials say.

A husband and wife were in a their tent at a nearby homeless shelter when floodwaters pulled the tent into the creek. After about traveling about a quarter of a mile, the couple was separated from their tent and they managed to grab onto a tree along the bank.

Shortly before 11:30 p.m., officials received a 911 call reporting a voice calling for help from near White Rock Lake.

Rescue units responded to the call at the 4800 block of Lawther Drive, which is near the north shore of White Rock Lake.

After about half an hour, a Dallas Fire-Rescue Swift Water boat rescued the couple from the tree they had clung to. The couple was then brought to a hospital, but officials say their injuries are not life-threatening.

According to WFAA, about two inches of rain fell on Monday as thunderstorms shook Dallas. More rain is expected this Friday.
