It seems another water main in Lakewood has broken.

The intersection at Oram Street and Alderson Street was closed temporarily on June 23 while crews made repairs.

A spokesperson with the City of Dallas said the break was caused by corrosion, but it did not affect the same pipeline as the break that occurred last week. Crews finished repairs and restored water service around 1:45 p.m. Friday.

Last week, crews were working on a pipe that affected water service to Lakewood Tower, located at 6301 Gaston Ave.

During the late morning on June 14, water was seen flowing out of the ground at the Oram-Alderson intersection, running down the streets. Water at Lakewood Tower, where the Advocate office is, and Caddo Office Reimagined was shut off during the day.

Crews made the repair around 9:30 p.m., and water service was restored by June 15. Corrosion of a pipe installed nearly 100 years ago was the reason for the break, a spokesperson for the City of Dallas, said. The design and replacement of the waterline is underway.

Four breaks have occurred at the intersection in the last seven years, in addition to the one repaired June 14, the city spokesperson said.
