As of publishing time, three cases were open in our neighborhood: one at E. Northwest Highway and Skillman, one near the Santa Fe Trail east of Grand Avenue and one on the 5100 block of Greenville Avenue.

Though the sites are being cleaned of debris, the encampments are not being totally removed. The neighbors who reported the site on Greenville Avenue said their family had been picking up trash and wanted help.

Encampments are removed when they are designated health or safety risks. Any encampments on public parks are removed, for example.

The City is cleaning up sites reported to 311. Over the past 30 days, the City has closed 37 reports in District 9 and 44 reports in District 14.

In addition to cleaning, the OHS Street Outreach team has been processing identification cards, helping people sign up for the housing priority list, working with community courts on expunging eligible tickets and offenses from records, identifying medical needs and breaking down the stigma surrounding shelter through conversation.
