It took 10 years to make. And East Dallas filmmaker Tisha Blood’s work paid off this week when her film, “Torey’s Distraction”, won best documentary at the New Orleans Film Festival.

The film chronicles the life of Blood’s Old East Dallas neighbor, Woodrow Wilson High School student Torey Harrah, who was born with Apert Syndrome. Apert Syndrome is a craniofacial abnormality that has required Harrah to endure at least 56 major surgeries, most of them to her head and face, since infancy.
