Bad news from the world of retail leasing: Herb Weitzman, one of Dallas’ most knowledgeable guys in the market, just released a report indicating that new retail projects will face a rocky 2008 and a virtually non-existent 2009 in terms of attracting new tenants, according to the Dallas Business Journal. Why should we care? Well, what it means is the guys who are building the "next West Village" at the site of the former Loews movie theaters at Lemmon & Central are going to have a tough time attracting tenants, which means they’ll probably have a tough time coming out of the ground with their project, which means we won’t be shopping there anytime soon. The good news in all of this: "The market here in D-FW is really one of the best in the country," Weitzman told the DBJ.
