Becoming a national Blue Ribbon school is just about impossible — only 18 Texas schools received the honor this year recognizing academic excellence. We just found out that St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic School in our neighborhood and DISD’s law magnet received the designation Friday. Achieving Blue Ribbon designation requires a lengthy application process and lots of work by the school, parents and school organizations. The DMN had a brief report about the designation this morning; we’ll find out more about the St. Thomas honor and let you know the details in the coming days.
