Woodrow cafeteria remodel – 2012

We all know Woodrow Wilson High School is nearing the end of a lengthy remodeling, but here’s a portion of the school that is up and running already: the newly remodeled cafeteria. Check out these photos of the place, which until now had featured early 1950s design and now looks like it’s the poster child for a new fast-food franchise.

For those who don’t know, Woodrow’s cafeteria is on the school’s top floor — kind of an odd place for dining room. (I don’t know they why’s and wherefore’s of that decision, so if you do, please feel free to chime in here.) My memories of the place involve two words: Plain and unchanging.

You can’t say that about the remodeled cafeteria. Included are food stations that offer more choices and quicker transactions, a spot for kids to grab food and leave the cafeteria quickly, all-new tables, chairs and counter seating. There are even some “booths” for more intimate dining. And overall, the color theme says “Woodrow” all over.
