Food donations needed for Dallas ISD peace pantries

Neighbors can help ensure that Dallas ISD students are fed this school year by donating nonperishable food items to the Coldwell Banker food drive.

Donations will be accepted at open houses in Lakewood through August. Agents will collect the items and deliver them to eight peace pantries within the district.

More than 130,000 DISD students may not have access to three meals a day. The peace pantries provide food, uniforms and toiletries to students and their families.

“I helped start the Peace Pantry at Woodrow Wilson High School, and I know the impact it can have on a student to not have to worry about where their next meal may come from,” said Nancy Wilson, branch manager of the Lakewood office.

Neighbors can also donate supplies at: Veritex Bank, Urbano, St. Pete’s Dancin’ Marlin, Greenville Avenue Pizza Company, Trader Joe’s, Times Ten Wine Cellars, Tallulah & Hess, Frank’s Custom Signs, Blow Hair Salon and Texas State Movers.Â
