The Santa Fe Trail bridge near the Gaston-Garland-Grand intersection is closing this week.

The closure is scheduled to begin 7 a.m. April 28, and it is expected to last until late August, according to the Texas Department of Transportation.

TxDOT said in an April 4 release that the planned closure would be postponed “until further notice while crews make additional revisions to the detour route.” Revisions to the previous version did not include changes to the route itself.

The revisions include additional signage to alert drivers traveling on Grand Avenue/Garland Road to yield to pedestrians in marked crossing areas, a representative from TxDOT said. Plus, solar-powered flashing beacons will be installed at the pedestrian crossing on Grand Avenue/Garland Road.
