The play, which begins at 8 p.m. on performance nights Dec. 1-15, is based on short stories from Cisneros’s book “Woman Hollering Creek.” It depicts interwoven childhood memories of a South Texas woman living in a new city. Tickets are $12-$15 most nights.

Cara Mía Theatre Co., which is presenting “Milagritos/little miracles,” hosts a party Dec. 12 before the performance to celebrate the Mexican holiday, the Day of Our Lady of Guadalupe. The Latino Culinary Institute is providing food and drinks. Tickets for that night cost $20.
