The book tells the well-known story from the student-athlete perspective. SMU was penalized for various recruiting violations, including boosters paying players cash to play for SMU. Blewett had been an SMU football player for two years when the death penalty was handed down by the NCAA in 1987; rather than transferring, Blewett stayed at SMU, eventually earned an MBA and works in Dallas.
