DISD Trustee Ron Price addressed the questions and concerns of about 30 people gathered last night at Woodrow. As expected, one of the hot topics was the delay in security camera installation at the school. He expressed his own disappointment that Woodrow was one of only 3 or 4 high schools in the DISD that did not yet have this system, but was also able to report that District staff has assured him that the cameras would be installed during the month of December. We all took that to mean 2007.

The other primary topic was the upcoming school bond issue scheduled for early May 2008. At this time, it is expected to be almost as large as the last one, in the range of $1.8 billion. Many came forward, especially me, to stress the remaining physical needs of the school and that the only reasonable solution appears to be a significant addition. Mr. Price noted that he has informed other Trustees that he cannot support another bond program that does not contain a major addition for Woodrow Wilson.

Finally, since we can’t talk about anything anymore without mentioning the Trinity Vote, Mr. Price expressed his concern about air quality in the proposed park, so he cannot support a road within the park.
