Jay Leno has invoked some Ron Kirk humor the past couple nights and even worked in a jab at the Mavericks.

Leno on Wednesday night

"Well, folks, it’s happened again. President Obama’s latest nominee for U.S. trade representative, a man named Ron Kirk, owes $10,000 in unpaid back taxes. Apparently, when it comes to taxes, “yes, we can” is now, “no, we didn’t.”

Well, listen to this. One of Kirk’s tax deductions was $17,000 for tickets to Dallas Mavericks games; $17,000 for pro basketball tickets. But to be fair, since it was the Mavericks, he should be able to write that offas a failed investment."

Ouch.

Leno brought Kirk’s name up again last night (I think it was Leno — I was flipping channels), saying "Ron Kirk has agreed to pay his taxes. Agreed to pay his taxes?! We have a choice?" (As you can see, I haven’t located the transcript for last nights shows yet and it sure doesn’t sound funny in my words … but you get the idea, right?)

Anyway, here’s more about what landed Kirk in the late night limelight — the DMN says it’s really not that bad.
